Hi Maxim & Extreme Internet Team,
This is a new feature request.. feel free to add it to your backlog as I don't think I am a lite user of EPF and my user scenario may be unique.
Feature Request:
Within the "Project Properties" in the "After Completion" section.. please add a tick box under the option "Start Another Search" where when enabled, it will force EPF to flush it's memory or close out and reboot before starting another search. That means EPF will have to know where to start back up with the 'Start Another Search' feature after the memory flush or after it closes and reboots back up.
Thoughts:
This is an important request because I have found that if I string more than two web searches together using this feature, the software will usually freeze up (become non-responsive) and all of the download log data for the open web search that it was on will be corrupted and lost... even though the images downloaded are safe. By having EPF flush its memory or reboot between searches... it should eliminate this memory leak issue and then allow your users (like me) to fully automate the searching activities... as then I can string together like 12 web searches and have confidence it can complete all 12 without running out of memory and crashing.
This is also ideal for executing 'infinity loop' searches for maximum search results in a short period of time. For example, lets say you have three webs searches and you use the 'After Completion' feature to have [Web Search 1] trigger the 'Start Another Search' feature to start [Web Search 2] after [Web Search 1] is completed and then have [Web Search 2] trigger the 'Start Another Search' feature to start [Web Search 3] after [Web Search 2] is completed. Then to have [Web Search 3] trigger the 'Start Another Search' feature to start [Web Search 1] when [Web Search 3] is done.
This would be great but currently with the small memory leaks.. over time EPF's memory footprint is like 3.5GB of RAM and eventually freezes up do to internal software limitations as my computer has 16GB of ram with like 10GB free... but it always crashes. By having the memory flush or reboot feature, it will ensure that each search has full resources to use and will reset the memory leak that causes it to usually freeze up.
I think this feature will be a huge advancement for your software as it will allow power users like myself to 'set it and forget it' .
Cool Additional Feature for 'Infinity Searches':
Building off my feature request above.. if you can achieve this, then I would like to ask that you also add a second tic box with a companion drop box that would enable a counter that will count how many times a specific keyword has been searched in a string instance and after a certain number, it will stop the search. (The drop box can have set count from 1-10 or so.) That way I can set EPF to search three web search projects in an infinity loop with the ability to close down the operation after 10 loops have been executed. That would be so cool. As I can then set the computer to execute the infinity loop before leaving for the weekend to go visit the beach and have confidence the computer will conduct 10 cycles of searches on the three web searches and then I can designate it to shut down or shut down the computer. :-)
Hope these suggestions are appreciated as it would be huge advancements for the software functionality with limited effort as you are not impacting any process or rendering feature... just the operations scripting or memory management. Which are always good things. ;-)

Phil Harvey

That's a known bug in version 3.x.: the entire download log stays in memory even after the project is finished. Hopefully it'll be fixed.

Hi Maksym,
Thank you for the reply and confirmation that it was not something unique that I was experiencing... ;-)
I look forward to this fix as it will really help to automate the software when using the 'After Completion' for batch scripting.
Best regards,
Phil
