Hi Maksym & Extreme Internet Team,
I have a basic question. I am trying to understand how EPF works and handles changes between sessions. Hoping you can help me understand.
Scenario:
- After a full session, I shut down the application (no longer in memory). Then I realize I am getting low on storage space so I move all of the images for one or more projects from the designated project folder on the main computer to a backup network drive.
- When I start a new session, EPF scans my project folder and notices the image files are no longer there and as such, does not display them in the upper righthand side of the program window under the project folder.
Question:
- Does EPF do something with the DAT file (aka Log) regarding the missing image / video files? I am assuming no, but curious if I am overlooking something?
- Is there ever a scenario whereby deleting or moving an image out of the project download folder, it would trigger EPF to redownload it?
Follow-Up:
I am asking as I noticed sometimes when I am browsing all of the images in the project download folder, I tend to do two things...
1) I delete all of the corrupt files that were only partially downloaded (half an image... kind of rare but it happens). I don't know if that is what the source file is.. but I doubt it.. think they are images that were downloading when the EPF app froze due to memory limits.)
-- Would be cool to have the feature to scan the project folder for missing image files and automatically download them again. But this feature should not be turned on automatically... but a manual trigger option. (Not that big of a request, just a thought.)
2) I tend to allow EPF download duplicate images and just create new file names and keep them stored in their own search folders... then I tend to run a 'duplicate remover' app that deletes the extra (duplicate) files so I can keep my hard drive storage lean while ensuring I have a good copy of each image file that are identical.. not just the image file size and name. (Under this scenario I want to make sure EPF does not automatically see the missing files and try to download them again.... I am assuming it doesn't but wanted to confirm.)
Thanks as always... sorry for the weird question... just wanting to better understand how the app works so I can become a better power user of it. :-)
Best regards,
Phil

No, it doesn't. It just scans the folder.- Does EPF do something with the DAT file (aka Log) regarding the missing image / video files? I am assuming no, but curious if I am overlooking something?
Also "no". This is done to prevent re-downloading of the files that users do not want.- Is there ever a scenario whereby deleting or moving an image out of the project download folder, it would trigger EPF to redownload it?
