Unable to Load Local Images after a while - 2.1.1

Have seen the same issue (though more frequently) in the other 2.x versions. Basically I am using just the local image slideshow option to go through around 14000 images I have taken over the years. Setup with no transitions but using the full filename and path since that helps if I see something I want to take a look at later - or when friends are over and ask where the photo was from.

In any case, after it has been running a while, it will start to throw errors that it can't load certain images. It will sometimes do this for just one image, and other times for two to three images before starting again. I go back and confirm that the image is there and it not locked or corrupted. Since this seems to happen most often (but not exclusively) on some of my larger ARW (Sony RAW files) images I am wondering if the program has a memory leak that is triggered after running for some time.

Have also confirmed that if I stop the program and start again it will run without issues for some time, and that it will show those images it was just complaining about with no issue.

Hopefully something easily fixed :-)

Thank you for reporting this issue. Can you run a test for me? Please remove your RAW images from the slideshow (you know how to filter them out, right)? Will the problem still be there?

It says that filtering by file type requires a Pro subscription. If I choose a directory that only has JPG files, it's not going over nearly so many files and subdirectories, and so not sure it's a 1 to 1 test.

Have started such a test, but if it's a memory issue I suspect it will take much longer to run into. Will let you know if anything happens.

I should point out that I never had this problem using the 1.x versions of the tool.

Oh, and one more thing: what was the error message?

The exact error message is "Failed to read the file:" and then the filename. In every case I've found so far, I can go and see that the file in fact exists, and is able to be viewed through the Windows viewer and opened with an editor.

And yes, if left to run long enough, it happens even if there are just JPG files as well.
