I notice in the search engine list we are down to just google that doesn't have ACF on.
Is it possible to circumvent this in any way?
Is there a way to add other search engines?
I assume expicfinder is cracking down on adult content?

Google is the only one that allows to turn the content filter on and off using URL parameters. Other search engines do not offer such flexibility.

But for DuckDuckGo you can use a stand-alone template where you can turn the filter off in the built-in browser:
