Some of the videos seem to be downloading as PNG's called 'icon[#]' instead of the expected .ts files. Do you know why that is?
Here are 3 links that do download video correctly:

The template is: thotporn.tv downloader

It's the website's way of protecting its content. They are trying to fool the users by using a .png extension instead of .ts. They went even further: they add a small PNG file to the beginning of every .ts file so that you cannot play them in your media player even if you rename them manually. But Extreme Picture Finder removes that small PNG icon automatically when the file is saved and you can rename them to .ts if you want.
But, in general, it shouldn't be a problem because if you open the .m3u8 file that is saved along with those "PNG" files in the VLC player - the video will be played.

The files do play properly using the .m3u8 file as you said.
Is there any way for EPF to convert these files to .ts upon downloading? The improper extension makes some editing more difficult.

You do not even need to convert them. They arectually ARE the .ts files. Just rename them.

I'm sorry I misspoke, is there a way for EPF to automatically re-name the files to .ts upon downloading instead of manually renaming them after the fact?

Yes, there are several ways to do that. But if you do - clicking the .m3u8 file will not play the video, so I'm not going to update the template. You can do it in your local copy of the template or in the project properties. All the file naming options are located [ Save - Naming ] section. The easiest for you would be to simply change the extension like this:
All saved files will have the .ts extension in this case (including all the actual images and .m3u8 files - all of them). You can use more advanced options to rename only the .png to .ts. You'll have to use the [ Expert ] tab and create a Regular Expression that will be applied to the Target file or Parent URL.
