Exactly. It's the best idea to save your modified templates under some unique names to prevent overriding when new version is installed.

Is there any way I can change the number of images on each page to a larger number, like 500 or 1000 images per page? I'm going to have a gallery with a couple of thousand images and people are saying that 100 per page is too few and all on 1 page is like scrolling forever!
