Enhancement suggestion: Auto-refresh

Post by coric » 18 Aug 2019, 17:44

This is a suggestion, not a request. The difference between those two is that I presume to make no claim on your time or effort.

I'm not sure how feasible it is, but I think it might be nice to have an option to automatically refresh the downloaded file listing in EPF, perhaps even with a way to configure how often the refresh is done. Assuming, of course, that the cursor (i.e. selected file) wouldn't move when a refresh occurred.

Thanks for reading!

I'm not sure I understand what do you mean. When new file is downloaded and saved it is automatically shown in the file browser part of Extreme Picture Finder main window. So this file listing is already automatically refreshed.

It's never worked that way for me; I have to click within the file list and hit F5 to get new files to appear. I always thought that was just normal behavior.

What version of the program do you have?

I'm using EPF 3.44.0.0 under Win10 Pro x64 1809. I nearly always update the application whenever an update is released, and I've been using EPF for 5 years... Pretty sure I've never seen the file list update automatically.

Is it this list we're talking about?

Are you running Extreme Picture Finder on your PC or on the remote PC?

Yes, that's the list, though I always use "details" mode (View > Files view mode > Details).

Sorry, I overlooked the other question. I'm running EPF on my PC; never remotely.

In this case I don't even know what to say. This feature has been there since version 1 and have no idea why it doesn't work on your PC. For example, take a look at the video on this tutorial page:

Download all images from website

You will see the images appear automatically.

For some reason, the last version or two (I now run 3.45.1.0) no longer has this issue. Maybe you accidentally fixed it? Maybe Microsoft accidentally fixed something in Windows? The world may never know... Anyway, thanks!
