Newbie entirely overwhelmed by software

Post by heymrpaul » 10 Jul 2017, 09:06

I've been trying to use the software to download galleries with NO success. I've read a few questions and it seems without a custom template, people cannot succeed. That's a scary thought. The built in help talks about a URL generator. Well, I see no way of finding it from going thru menus, much less figuring out how to use it. I'm going thru the manual and read about finding an import button... "Import
To import a list of starting address select one of the import options and click the Import button. The following Import options are available:"

Well, I've highlighted every button. None of them are named "import". I've just downloaded this software and find it very very difficult to use. I've spent an hour playing with it a few days ago, and another hour tonight and have zero results to show.
There are literally hundreds if not thousands of websites I'd like to download from, and if I need a new template every time I'll be driving you mad.

Lets start with this one please >> ... /index.php
The galleries are sorted first by letter (A-Z) then Name (First_Last) then gallery ID (01 - 999) then index.php is the page with the thumbnails. (TN)s
The photos are sorted as so > ... ges/16.jpg
Each photo starts with the same string as the gallery and replaces index.php with images/##.jpg

This is pretty routine. I've tried the options of general website, download all photos, download from TGP (Aren't all gallery collections TGP?) and I've tried using the Fap template. Nothing works for me. Is there something special about this website? My prior software was far more automated and now won't work but I've no clue what has changed. Can you help? Thanks in advance.

If you want to download all full-size images from this gallery (or any other stand-alone gallery on this website) - use the built-in template called download images from single-page gallery:

If you wish to use manual project settings for this kind of pages - use "Regular site exploration" with "Current page only" option.

If you want to download all galleries from some model on this website - use starting URL like this: ... /index.php

along with manual project settings, select "Explore all starting addresses as regular site" and select "Current directory and deeper" option:

No custom templates required... Basically you need custom templates only if you want to optimize the download process. Otherwise generic templates or manual project settings should work in most cases.
