Performance of Endless Slideshow screensaver slow

I noticed that quite some transitions seem to stutter a bit. They are not so fluent or smooth.
Also the framerate of the crossfade and the fade-in/fade-out transitions seem a bit too slow.

I think this is rather strange because if am using a fairly reasonable computer (amd A6-3620).
Do you perhaps have any suggestions to make the transitions smoother?

Ah great that i am not the only one who noticed this ;)
Will you be able to fix this in the current 1.x version, or will that be in version 2.0?
I really like this screensaver, do you have any idea when a fixed version could be available?
