Feature request: Naming: full date, time, seconds

Post by ataraxia » 05 Aug 2020, 00:45

The current option for Renaming to "current date and numerical filename" results in duplicate file names if multiple searches are done on the same day and then some/all of the pictures are co-mingled with other searches.

The current option produces filenames which look like this: 08-04-2020-00035.jpg

I have TWO suggestions.

1. Re-order the basic date format to YYYY-MM-DD.

Filenames like this will sort nicely in chronological order first by year, them month, then day. Very useful.

2. Rename files to something like the YYYY-MM-DD-hh-mm-ss.###

The key factor here is the addition of the (current) hour, minute and second of each download event PLUS a sequential numeric (###). T

Each filename would look something like this: 2020-08-04-16-47-22-005.jpg

This full date/time/### format will always produce an absolutely unique across multiple searches filename which is also meaningful. The ### suffix would assure uniqueness if more then one picture is downloaded in one second. There would be no chance of duplicate filenames anywhere in the system.

The number string is a bit hard to read. Perhaps other separators could be used to separate the various elements. E.g. YYYY-MM-DD@hh,mm.ss+### would produce a filename like this: 2020-08-04@14-47-22+005.jpg.

Thank you very much for the suggestion. Adding it to the to-do list.
