Unable to download all images within a directory

Post by Aze » 10 May 2015, 14:27

Hi Maxim.

Hope you can help me out. I'm trying to download some pictures that are stored in a common directery, like http://www.*site-name.com*/uploadfiles

It's a normal website that includes some different products, and for each product there's some small pictures attached in the description. Opening the pictures makes it clear that they are all stored directly in the "uploadfiles" directory.
But no matter what I tries, I get no dowloaded pictures!
I think ot should be vey simple...I just need "all the images" that are uploaded to the specific directory.

Can you help me out with the correct settings?

Thanks...

It's simply impossible to do that. You have to let Extreme Picture Finder explore the pages of the site to find all the images. If you can not view the directory content in browser - EPF won't be able to save anything directly from it. So make a project with a starting address of "site.com" and let the program do the work.

If you want exact settings - give me exact site address.

Well, that's not enough... How Extreme Picture Finder is supposed to guess other file names in this directory? If you open this folder address in browser:

http://www.heshunaudio.com/uploadfiles/

Then you will see that there is nothing for Extreme Picture Finder there... No links, no images, nothing....

Can you give me the address of the page where this image shown or where this image is linked from?

Aah, didn't knew that it had to "see" the links, to download the images! Thought I could just "rip off" the content of a specific directory?!

Anyway, here's some of the links:
http://www.heshunaudio.com/caseslist.asp?id=15
http://www.heshunaudio.com/caseslist.asp?id=14
...And so on...

Yeah, sure. I'll create a project and post it here. It's gonna be an easy one. I'll genenrate a sequence of starting URLs using the template you gave me, will set exploration to regular site -> all links, will exclude everything with

.*

and then add to "Included URLs'" only

uploadfiles

By the way, you could try it yourself.

Well, here it is:

projects/www.heshunaudio.com.exe

I also added some cool sub-folders options to save images from separate galleries into separate sub-folders... If the website has more than 100 galleries - just generate more starting addresses...

Thank you so much for the great support once again.

I really tries to understand HOW it is done, but I'm stocked in the generate-part?!
I'm just trying now, but let's say that I add "http://www.heshunaudio.com/caseslist.asp?id=15" in the generate-box...No matter what I do the list just consists of:
http://www.heshunaudio.com/caseslist.asp?id=15
http://www.heshunaudio.com/caseslist.asp?id=15
http://www.heshunaudio.com/caseslist.asp?id=15
http://www.heshunaudio.com/caseslist.asp?id=15
http://www.heshunaudio.com/caseslist.asp?id=15
http://www.heshunaudio.com/caseslist.asp?id=15
http://www.heshunaudio.com/caseslist.asp?id=15
etc.....

How do you set up the generate-function so it ads one step to each number, like you've done?

Well, here is the tutorial page for the built-in URL Generator:

http://www.exisoftware.com/picture_find ... rator.html

In short: in the "Template" field you paste your URL and replace the number with

[1]

Like this:

http://www.heshunaudio.com/caseslist.asp?id=[1]

Then you set up "from" and "to" fields and you're done.
