New Version

Post by utomo » 05 Dec 2013, 10:27

Hello,

I am new user. I Have some suggestion:
- Release new version. Version 3 already long enough.
- Consider to change the name from Extreme Picture Finder to Extreme Finder or Extreme Media Finder. Because it support other files type.
- How about adding function, to import / add EPF project tree or other setting when we found some difficulties.
so we just copy and paste the setting easily.

Other suggestion later.

Just my 2c

Work in progress. Along with releasing new 3.x we're working on 4.x

Easier said than done. Extreme Picture Finder has been around since 2002... And it's a name people already know... We see a lot of traffic coming through search engines with the keyword "Extreme Picture Finder". At first it actually was intended only for pictures. Then it evolved into something bigger and more universal. Now it's more like "any-type-of-files-downloader"...
- How about adding function, to import / add EPF project tree or other setting when we found some difficulties. So we just copy and paste the setting easily.
Yeah, I guess it may be a good one... At least a possibility to export/import a project or 2. Adding to the to-do list.

Thanks for the reply and also the good news about version 4.

Next suggestion
reduce the heavy load. this heavy load happened when I try to download pictures. but when I try to download mp3 is very light.
add speed limiter to be used by EPF

default delay 120 sec I think is too long. maybe 50 is enough ? Maybe changed by default can be considered. Yes, I know we can change it.

Additional: please update your listing on cnet download, and others which still showing old version.

I think the volume of load (so to say) depends more on the size of pages that EPF has to parse to find links to target files and other pages... But yes, I agree, sometimes its way higher than it could be.

Yeah, this one is already in the to-do list.

Next:

Add Pause Button. Sometimes we need to pause, instead of stop it.
Better to change the Show advanced properties into button. instead of check box and then we need to hit finish.

Stop actually works like a pause. You can click "Start/Resume" button on the "stopped" project and EPF will continue right where you stopped it.

You may be right on this one. This whole "New project wizard" needs to be changed actually to let people add more starting addresses and more... In EPF 3.23 (which will be released soon) we added a possibility to work with the list of starting addresses like you work with text (copy/paste entire list, edit any address and so on). The same counts for target files and URL filters.

Next

add scheduler for start and stop the project
Change some icon to better ones. sometimes not easy to guess what is that icon. Bigger icon also still ok.
Make the base language file available for download, so people can see it first http://www.exisoftware.com/picture_find ... ual_3.html before offering to translate.

Most likely in 4.x.

Currently the installation package contains all available translations and users can choose the interface language during the installation process. So the base file (which is English) is also included.

Well, it's not a secret ;-) All interface language translations are stored inside

{EPF_INSTALL_FOLDER}/lang
